PotterVerse 2 Guest Announcements: Jon Campling and Trevor Butterfield

Hello “House”mates!

PotterVerse is happy to announce our next group of guests for this year:

Jon Campling played one of the Death Eaters in the two Deathly Hallows films and is also a wand craftsman and wand dueling instructor. Jon will be conducting a number of dueling workshops at the event, and will have many of his wand designs available for sale at the event. Jon will be at the event for all three days.

Our other new guest is Trevor Butterfield. Trevor played many parts in the original Star Wars films (an Imperial Officer and a stormtrooper in The Empire Strikes Back and in Return of the Jedi he portrayed the bounty hunter ‘ Bossk ‘, a stormtrooper, a Calamari warrior, Lieutenant Blount and the Rancor keeper’s assistant Giran), but switched over to doing Special Effects work and contributed to most of the Harry Potter films as a Senior Special Effects Technician. Trevor can give a great deal of insight into what it takes to make the magic happen on film. Trevor will be at the event for all three days.

Both Jon and Trevor join our already announced guests of Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Miriam Margolyes (Professor Sprout), and Simon Fisher-Becker (The Fat Friar).

We are still working on adding new guests to the event, and hope to announce them soon.

Our full weekend discount price is still in place at $80, and we also have some spaces left in our special Meet and Greet event “The Wizard’s Council”. You can also pre-order our Con T-shirt as well as add on a VIP level to get some fun extra stuff.

PotterVerse in the Press!

img_0697

PotterVerse hit big during its first year, and we were privileged to have NPR on site reporting from the event!

Hidden Brain host Shankar Vedantam interviewed several of our attendees about their choice of Hogwarts House, and what identifying as a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin meant to them. The interview was part of a 50-minute feature on personality tests — what they are, and what they say about who you are vs. who you can become.

You can listen to the episode and read the accompanying article on the NPR website. Click here for a transcript.

PotterVerse Returns ~ Join Us Jan. 4 for the Big Date Reveal!

Print

Before PotterVerse 1 even ended, you came to us asking if there’d be another. And at the time, we weren’t sure. We wanted to have an answer for you so much. But we didn’t have all the info we needed to make a promise.

Until now.

PotterVerse will be back for a second year! And we’re dropping the date, venue, and opening registration on January 4 (this Thursday) at 6 pm Eastern. We’ll also be opening applications for Panels, Vendor Room, and Artist Alley at this time.

Want to be among the first to get the news? RSVP to our Facebook event and you’ll be alerted right away when the news comes out. Remember, RSVPing to the date reveal event is not the same as RSVPing for the event itself — you’re not under any obligation to go anywhere. All you have to do check your notifications.

Remember: this Thursday, 6 PM Eastern!

And if you’re a Doctor Who fan looking for something to do this spring, check out our sister event, (Re)Generation Who! Tickets are currently at their best price — so if you want to meet Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Michelle Gomez, Rachel Talalay, and many more guests from across the Whoniverse, hop on over and register now!
